Kite class is one of three year 6 classes at Brampton Ellis Primary School. Our class teacher is Mrs Chilton and the children are also well supported by our teaching assistant, Mrs Dunkley.
Our classroom ethos feeds into our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. Kite's classroom is a nurturing environment where all children are encouraged to strive towards their goals, even when challenges arise.
Our topics this year are:
-
Autumn - 'Pollution and Our World'. Our geography topic will look at pollution in the UK and compare this to the Philippines. We conduct lots of exciting fieldwork and we will be joined for a visit by a waste management company. The class novel for this term is 'The Last Human' by Lee Bacon.
-
Spring - 'World War II'. Our first history topic of the year will examine aspects such as technological advancement, rationing and evacuees. The Schools Library Service will be joining us for an artefact session. The class novel for this topic is 'Letters from the Lighthouse' by Emma Carroll. We will also be reading extracts of 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' by C.S.Lewis.
-
Summer - 'Ancient Egypt'. Our second history topic will encourage the children to consider the developments in archaeology. The Schools Library Service will be joining us for an artefact session. The class novel for our final term is 'Secrets of a Sun King' by Emma Carroll.
